After a full week of presentations, all of you should be excited about providing your feedback to the two presentations given this past week. First, we had Camille and Carli and then Maria and Morgan. I just noticed that we had the "C" group and the "M" group! How about that???
Your blog should address both presentations - be sure to identify your favorite readings from each of the presentations. What have you learned as a result of each of the presentations? What suggestions do you have for any of the presenters in how they delivered their collections?
Finally, how has the group presentations provided you with an interesting way to learn? Do you feel that there is better class participation when groups are presenting? Why?
Add anything of interest relating to the group presentations. I have certainly enjoyed them! I hope you have too.

PRESENTATION - Collection 16: Leah and Victoria
Your blog
this week should do several tasks. First, as always, provide an
evaluation of the presentation titled "Make it New" - how does that
title reflect the authors/poets and material that was read and
discussed? Besides the art that was discussed during the presentation,
can you find another piece of art work that reflects the American writer
at this time? What about music of the time period? Offer whatever
connections you can discover from doing some research. Be sure to cite
your sources. You might want to consider the discussion on the Symbolists and Imagists that I covered on Wednesday too.
Second, find a poem by any of the poets in Collection 16 - you can choose one we discussed or another one from that chapter - in your own words, paraphrase the poem and then offer your analysis of the poem - adding whatever insights you have that relate to the time period we've discuss.
PEER FEEDBACK: I expect to see a better job done on this part. There are too many simplified statements being made as to how much you agree with your peer - that is fine but you are expected to add to their comments, or to challenge something that they discussed by offering your own comments that are also well supported.

Presentation - Collection 14 & 15: Jess and Hayley; Maddie and Nicole
Part 1: Post your feedback to the two-day presentation given by Hayley and Jess this past week. Which of the authors/poets did you find most interesting and why? How does their work (ideas, style, diction) illustrate the theme of this collection "Shadows of the Past?" What part of the presentation was most beneficial to you? What would you do differently if you were presenting this collection? How many times did Faulkner use the word "rose" to mean the type of flower? How did he use the word "rose" throughout the story, "A Rose for Emily?"
Part 2: Post your feedback to the two-day presentation given by Maddie and Nicole. Which authors did you enjoy the most? What is the most important lesson, idea, or concept you learned from this presentation? Most especially, what do you respect about "The Harlem Renaissance"? How has this period of time affected the arts even today for those who started the movement?

My Lai Massacre - 45 years later
It is important to not allow history to repeat itself in so many cases - especially those related to war atrocities. Many students today have never heard of the My Lai massacre that took place in Viet Nam over a period of about four hours. Those four hours would forever change the lives of some American soldiers, Vietnamese families, and the American populace. Read the article written by Nick Turse, a journalist and historian. Then write your "emotional" response to the article. How did this article affect you? How can we avoid such atrocities in the future?
