YOUR LAST BLOG

Hello Dear Accelerated English III students

Today, you are to choose ONE unique word that best illustrates who you are as a person.  Write the word in larger font in a color that also represents you best.  Then write a small paragraph explaining why that word fits you so well.  This is your LAST BLOG. Do it well !!!   Be sure to respond to two of your peers by expanding their words even more so to suit them.

Literature Adds Reality

Read the following quotation.  Then, discuss what this quotation means to you.  Make sure you offer examples to support your position.  You can relate various pieces of literature you have studied or that you have read for pleasure.  Be sure to show how this literature has enriched you in some way. Finally, explain and discuss the metaphor at the end of the quotation.

"Literature adds to reality. It does not simply describe it.  It enriches the necessary competencies that daily life requires and provides; and in this respect, it irrigates the deserts that our lives have already become."     C.S. Lewis

Final Collection! Collection 21: Tyler and Andrew

Congratulations Class!

You have all finished your presentations and I am so proud of your accomplishments.  I know you all have learned skills that will benefit you in your future educational years.  Be more confident in yourselves.  Take constructive criticism as a tool for improvement.  I think for the most part, you have done that.

This blog is basically your evaluation of Tyler's and Andrew's presentation - their selection of topics, the background to the collection, and of course, their delivery.  Good Luck!

Collection 20: Larissa and Rachel

Your blog assignment this week is to evaluate the presentation by Rachel and Larissa.  First, you should point out the strengths of the two-day presentation.  Then, you should make suggestions for possible ways to use other ways to present the material.  What do you like to see in presentations?  Second, determine the major theme in John Updike's "Son" - how does this theme of your choice relate to human life?   Do the same for Anne Sexton's "The Bells".  Finally, what is the most interesting tradition that is evoked by Scott Momaday's "The Way to Rainy Mountain"?  Be specific - you are now experienced bloggers!
