YOUR LAST BLOG

Hello Dear Accelerated English III students

Today, you are to choose ONE unique word that best illustrates who you are as a person.  Write the word in larger font in a color that also represents you best.  Then write a small paragraph explaining why that word fits you so well.  This is your LAST BLOG. Do it well !!!   Be sure to respond to two of your peers by expanding their words even more so to suit them.

  1. Wow the end of the year is finally here!
Over the years I along with my peers have spent our lives discovering who we are and what to do with our lives. Although many of us may still be searching the path to get there is adventuresome. I feel as though one unique word could not fully describe me or my personality. I would like to think of myself as a well-rounded individual witch many characteristics. So the word I have chosen is VICACIOUS. Vivacious is defined as "lively or animated." (dictionary.com) I feel as though this word describes me because I am always active. Although at school I may be a nerd, those who know me understand why I chose this word. I am constantly active and full of energy. I am an athlete who never takes a break (unless forced). I am constantly practicing and training. I may not always be the life of the party, but I love excitement. Also my personality is full of fun, laughter, and sometimes just crazy. I would also consider myself animated, especially when it comes to participating in musicals. In total I am a vivacious girl looking for adventure and things to keep my lively spirit up. I was unable to change the text color of my word so it is in all CAPS. Have a great weekend.

    1. If there is any other word out there that describes you better, I cannot think of one, Marla! For seventeen long years, I have watched live your life (I hope that doesn't sound too creepy!), but its true. And you are not a force to be reckoned with! You are extremely determined, and have a passion for everything you do; if there was no passion or love for the game involved, you would never waste your time. You are most definitely well-rounded, but I still think you should try wearing bows!!!!!!!!! :) It's been a long, hard-fought year, and you seem to be finishing on a great note with this blog! Good job, and many more great years!

    2. Marla, I thought that the word you picked was made for you. You are defiantly everything that you said in your blog. You are somebody who likes be very happy and be involved. You also are full of energy and never seem to stop moving. This effort shows in everything that you do and the hard work pays off in the end. I remember back at the beginning of the year when you were hurt on track, but you still came to every practice to get whatever workout you could in! Also, I love watching you on the school plays because you stand out from everybody else. You are very animated and give the characters a little bit of spunk! Great job this year Marla and great blog.

  2. Veracity

This word describes me well, especially for those who know me. It means honesty, a synonym for truthfulness. I always like to tell the truth because lying is counterproductive and a waste of time. Even in elementary school, I could never get away with a lie; I would immediately feel guilty and most likely cry to my parents for how sorry I was. It is better for someone to live with the truth, no matter how ugly, than to live a lie. I will be completely honest to anyone who asks my opinion, even if they probably didn't want to hear it. Veracity is my greatest sin, which I feel is better than other sins that people may carry. I can be brutally honest at the worst of times, but my friends and family know it is out of love.

    1. Maria great use of unique vocabulary. I personally can account for your personality type. You are a very honest person. This quality can be seen easily. In my case you are not only my friend, but my loyal sister. You are the person who I can confide in, and you will always tell me the truth no matter what. I especially know that you are always honest because when we were little you always tattled on me! Love you sis! <3

    2. Maria, I think that you chose a great word to describe you. I have know you and your sister since elementary school!! We have been in a lot of activities since then and have spent a lot of to,e together. I can say that you are very honest and don't hold back what you are feeling. This is a great quality because people know that you aren't hiding how you really feel. I think that this will take you a long way into the future. I am glad to know that you will always tell the truth because I feel that not enough people tell the honest truth. Great job this year n the blogs this year Maria!!

  3. DETERMINATION

I was struggling to find a word that suited me. I tried to think of my personality and some of the words that my friends have described me as before. Then one night my mom said that she was proud of how determined I was with my school work and the sports that I play. The more I thought about it, I figured that this is the best word that describes me. I am somebody who doesn't ever quite once I have started something. Even if I start an activity and I realize that it's not for me, I have the determination to continue the hard work until the end. I have also realized that this skill is very helpful in the real world. When I started working, I realized that determination can get you a long way, and it pays off in the end. I try hard to do the best that I can and get everything that I need to do done in a timely manor. In return, my boss tells me what a great job I do and encourages me to continue what I am doing. This makes me feel that all the long shifts are worth it and it is giving me great experience for my future job. I am also very determined with all the new activists that I do. I will be playing a different sport this fall and I am excited and nervous at the same time. I think that these are very common feelings for somebody to have when they are trying something new, but I am determined to be the best that I can be and try my hardest. I have also never hunted before, but I took the hunter's safety course so I could go hunting this winter. My family has been very supportive of it and are happy that I am not letting age stop me. I am determined to help my brother to get his first deer and maybe even get something myself. A lot of children get their hunting license when they are 12, but I am determined to prove that even at the age of 17, you can still learn something and try new things. I also think that my determination in school will help me when I go off to college. I am one of the students that have to get my work done the night before or earlier because I worry that I won't have time to do it the next day. I am also determined to get good grades because I want to get scholarships for college and get accepted into a good school. Determination as also helped me to get through junior year. It was a very busy year filled with many challenges. However, I am happy to say that I was able to work through every challenge that was thrown at me and have made it to the end of the year!! Determination has played a big role in my life this far and I know that it will continue to push me into my senior year and beyond.

I also wanted to say congrats to everyone on a job well done on all the blogs this year!! We have learned a lot from each other and it has been fun! Hope everybody has a great summer!!

    1. Camille I could not have picked a better word that describes you. Determination is definitely the word I would use to describe you. Just from knowing you, I know how hard working you are and the you never give up. You always perform to the best of your ability and then work harder to reach a goal. (Ex. track) You also juggle a job at Dairy Queen. Great Job with your last blog! I'm sure you are determined to have a great summer.

      Delete
    2. Camille, you are most definitely determined! A lot of people in your situation would probably complain of all the work but not you! I have no clue how you do it; we've had so much homework this year, you have a job most of the school year, and you have so many younger siblings, I have no idea how you do it! I agree that going for a license among 12 year-old kids is probably something a seventeen year old would never do, and I give you credit for that. I also quit volleyball for cross country, and it was completely worth it! Good luck in soccer and have a great summer!

    3. Camille I think that this word fits you perfectly! You are probably one of the most determined hard working people that I know. Weather it comes to school or sports. No matter what situation you are in you always try your hardest. This is a very good quality to have in a person. You made a good point about even when you don't like a sport. No matter how tough it got you always worked so hard! I also know that no matter what you choose that your family will always be Your blog was so good this week! Good job!

  5. METHODICAL
(Sadly I cannot change the color on here, but it would be blue, as that is my favorite color.)

I picked "methodical" because I feel that it describes the way I behave the best. I always look for the most efficient and effective way of doing anything. If it is homework, or sports, or just anything, I like to work things out in simple, logical, to-the-point steps. I have found that this sort of setup, like what we had with the research paper, is how I work best. I am not organized at all with how I keep something like my locker, but when I do things I like to do them right, and with as little wasted time as possible.
I would have picked blue for my color font, just because it is my favorite color. Blue is also a calmer color. That is how I see myself. More calm and logical in the way I do things.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I am not exactly methodical. I work more on a "if it works, don't fix it" style. Still gets things done, just not the most efficient way of doing things. I also do not really fair to well with preparation. I am not very organized either, at least in my opinion, but my locker still looks a lot better than yours does.

    2. Jess, I think that the word you picked suits you well. You always seem to solve problems in a ways that no one else really sees. You think about the best solution and only then do you start working on the problem, while most people (including myself) do not really seem to think about what they do before they do it. I wish that I was like you in this way because I waste entirely too much time trying things whee as I should just think about them! I love the color that you chose because blue is my favorite color as well!

    3. Jess, this is a very good word for you! I really enjoyed reading your blog this week. It's weird to think that this is out last blog of the year. I feel as if time has flew by! I feel like this word really does describe you. This year we got the chance to work together on our English presentations. You liked things to be very simple yet you still worked efficient. This is a very good quality to have in a person. Although your locker my not be neat you seemed to be very good at keep your work straight! Good job on this weeks blog! Also good job and congrtutions on being done with the blogs this year! You did a great job!

  6. I had to think a little about a single word that can define me. If we needed a phrase this would have been a little easier. The word that I thought gave me a little definition was DILIGENCE. Diligence is a persons ability to continue working on something, even without motivation or other outside influences. Diligence gives a sort of persistence when it come to doing work. Although I do not always do it the fastest, I do my best to see it to the end. When I start something, I have a bit of an urge to finish it. This is really a good mindset to have. Having diligence does show that a person can take responsibility for what they start. This is a simple task to do, yet people still can not do this sometimes.
It is nice that this is our last blog, rather than some massive blog that requires research. Good way to settle down for finals.

    1. Tyler, I think that your word describes you well. I also have to agree that it was hard to pick only one word. It is impressive that you seem to have this ability to work on things to get them finished. I am only slightly like you in this way. If I start a book, I have to finish it, but I do not seem to care as much with my schoolwork as I should. I think that this is a fantastic quality to have and I think that it will really get you far in life! You seem more responsible than some adults that I know and that is going to get you far, too!

      Delete
    2. Tyler, diligence really does describe who you are as a person! Im glad you picked it. You always seem like you keep working with persistence and (what do you)diligence. You never mind doing some things, you just keep at it. Like Morgan said, it impresses me also that you can do this. As for me, well, I do not think I am very diligent. This characteristic can really help you get through life easily without harsh fault. Great Job.

  7. I think the word that best describes me, to put it simply, is happy. I picked the word CONVIVIAL. It means cheerful and friendly; jovial. If I were to pick a color to change the word to, it would be blue. Blue is my favorite color and it also seems to represent emotions like calm and cool, which I seem to be because I do not get angry very often. (I do however get hyper a lot so I guess that that would not be very calm..) Back to the word convivial. I have realized in my 17 years of being alive that it is best to live life being happy. I have so many good things to be thankful for and I have such a good life. I am able to attend a private school, I have two loving parents, I have three older siblings that would do anything to protect me and I have the best friends that I could ever ask for. What more could you need? I think that most people do not seem to have the same outlook on life that I do and I wish that they did. I also seem to be pretty good at making new friends and meeting new people. I am not afraid to go up to people that I do not know and introduce myself to them. I am independent and am able to meet new people and be with them for a half hour and be able to walk away, feeling like I have known them my whole life. It never really made much sense to me as to why other people seem to be mean or cruel. If you are mean to other people, they will be mean to you. It is really that simple. Complaining doesn't really get you anywhere either. If you are unhappy with your life than you are the one that has the power to change that and I do not think that people realize that like I do. Cynthia Nelms once said, "Nobody really cares if you're miserable, so you might as well be happy."

    1. Convivial is a word that I have never heard before. It is a bit of an elegant word though. People tend to forget that they really should be grateful for the things around them. It is very easy to take family for granted. It is also easy to forget about modern conveniences, like air conditioning or the various technologies to post the blogs. I agree about complaining, it does not prove anything and it honestly is a sign of egotism. I like that quote, people tend to be oblivious to the people around them.

    2. Ha Morgan! That word is absolutely perfect for you!! Every time I see you, you are so smiley and you are always laughing no matter what! You really make me have a great day when I hear you laughing in the hall at something that might not even be funny at all! You brighten my day with you cheerfulness. I think that your mind set on life as being happy and you don't want to go through life being unhappy! It will help you get through some hard times that may take place during your life! So I hope that you stay happy forever! Awesome Job!!

  8. Nature
I asked my friends before I picked what word to use for this blog, what they thought a good word would be. They joked around a few times and spat out words like funny, childish, laughter, and many others. I really didn't like any of these words, so I thought about it for a few moments and said nature. The word that I picked to describe myself is nature. I thought nature would be a good word because I am really in touch with the environment and what surrounds me that deals with the outdoors and animals. I am always outside. Many times its with my dad who taught me a lot that there is to know about nature and its gifts. When I look at a mountain full of green leaves, I think how beautiful and cool they look. Nature really just interests me and a lot of people know that. When I get upset or stressed out I go for a walk outside to relax my emotions. I go hunting and fishing a lot; which really is the explanation why I love our natural world so much. When I'm walking through the woods, I see many plants, bugs, and animals that are beautiful.
This weekend my friends and I went on a little trip to track and field states. It was about a three hour drive through back roads in the woods and farmlands. Every time we went by a large river or something cool that had to do with nature I would usually say something about it. My friends would sort of joke about it and make fun of me and say something like, "Woah, watch out Emma Daghir wilderness explorer coming through!", it was really funny. However, more that I'm thinking about it, I realize that that is who I am. I do think the wilderness and forest is an amazing thing and I really do love it, that is why I chose nature as my description.

    1. Emma, this is the perfect word for you. From what I can tell, you love to be outdoors. This is a great word to use for you specifically because of how much you seem to enjoy the "nature" around us. The outdoors is a great place to be, and this word fits you well. We are lucky in this area to have so much nature so close by. It would be annoying to live in a city because of the lack of things such as forests.
Good job on your blog Emma.

    2. Emma, nature is a word that really relates to your personality! I can relate to this along with you because I also am very passionate about the outdoors. You seem to always be hunting and fishing or just being outside. The outdoors is great and I really love it as well as you. This can be shown through the envirothon competition!! We are extremely fortunate to live where we do and are able to experience the great outdoors! Great job Emma!

    3. Emma, I could literally make a whole dictionary of words just to describe you. You're one of the most distinctive individuals that I have ever met in my entire life. I love that you know what you want and love what you do, no matter what people say. I know you love nature and it really shows in everything you do. You've been the best APES partner I could ever ask for and a really great friend! I have no idea why I got so deep with this...

  9. I can't believe that this is the last blog of the year. It seems like just yesterday we were all stressing out because our blogs wouldn't work, or we didn't know how to use them.
    Athletic
This is the word that I picked to describe my self. Sports are a big part of my life. I play three sports without the school year. I don't know how I would get by without going to practice after school. Not only does being athletic keep me in good shape but it's much more. The teams that I have been on are more then just a team. They are a family. The bonds that are made during the season is unlike any other. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have sports in my life. My family is a huge supporter in all the sports that I play. Not only do I play them but I love to watch them. My brother always has sport center on or something along those lines. My whole family is very athletic. This is just one thing that we all have in common. This is a reason why I choose the word to describe my self!
If I could of put the word in a color it would have been blue. Blue is my favorite color.

This word was a perfect description of you.

    2. Hayley, this is the perfect word for you. Growing up with you all these years, I have been with you through so much, the majority of these events being athletics. I don't think we would be the friends that we are today without sports in our lives. I have noticed over the past couple of years all of the family that comes to watch you and your siblings participate in your athletics, and everyone notices how strong your bonds are within the family. 10. Bubbly.
I see myself in many different ways, but bubbly seemed to sum up all of my personalities. I am a light, carefree person who enjoys laughter most of all in life. I cannot picture a life without laughter, so I try to make other enjoy their times as much as I possibly can. As we go through life, we are trying to discover who we really are and what we want to mean and symbolize to people. I am proud to say that I have surrounded myself with people of good character, many who are outgoing, a number with vivacious attitudes, and many more. I am also proud to say that many of these people congregate inside of our English class. It is a very nice accomplishment to say this is our final blog, but it also means that our time together is coming to an end. I will hope to leave a lasting memory over the summer of good times and joy with the people I have encountered. A simple smile can go a long way, and smiling is what I am usually best at. I am an active girl who tries to please the people around her and tries to keep the mood light and peppy.
I hope that everyone has a great summer full of fun and sun. I also want to give a shout out to Dr. Pam for the awesome year. We were not always sure how things would go during class, but I am very pleased to say that the year ended on a high note with the entire class having benefited from the sessions we had. All of the hard work really payed off, and now we get to use our new skills for our senior year. Congratulations Accelerated English III, WE DID IT!

You're also one of those people who are easily approachable. I would never feel uncomfortable asking you a question. As for this being our last blog I really can't believe it. This year seemed tortuous to be, but it also went really fast! By this time next year high school will be over for us and that's just so unbelievable!

  11. OUTGOING

I can’t believe the last blog of the year is finally here! I almost forgot about it to be honest! I would consider myself to be outgoing. No matter where I seem to go I always meet a new person. I like talking to people and meeting new people no matter where I am at. I feel like being an outgoing person is really helpful. I can meet a lot of different kinds of people that I never thought of talking to before. I am also really good at just making conversation with new people no matter what the topic is. I feel like this will be extremely helpful to me later on in life. If I am in a job interview for example, an outgoing person would be talking with the person and holding a conversation versus just awkwardly answering their questions. This could help get me the job over someone who is very shy and doesn’t really say much during the interview. I feel like there are a lot of people out there who are too afraid to say anything. Me being an outgoing person could help them open up to others and really help them meet new people as well. It is always exciting to me when I find a new person to talk to. I enjoy hearing about their experiences as well as sharing my own.

I would just like to add a special thank you to Dr. Pam! You really taught me a lot this year and you are going to be greatly missed next year! Whether it was with the research paper or just writing or learning in general I really was taught a lot. You have presented me with new skills and thought processes that will help me not only next year, but in college and in my future career as well! Safe travels!

I would like to add talkative to the list of the many words that could describe you. You are not afraid to say anything, and i find that super awesome. 12. UNFILTERED (purple because that's my favorite color)

I chose this word to describe me because I often tell people that I have no filter between my brain and my mouth. I say what I think and am not afraid to be blunt with people. A lot of the time this gets me into trouble or gets someone mad at be, but if its the truth what's the point of lying? Not only do I say what I'm thinking but I also broadcast it in others ways such as my gestures and looks. This is most of the time a real annoyance because I display my emotions for all the world to see and that bothers me. Then again, it doesn't really bother me all that much because I would rather people know how I feel than have them think otherwise. If I have learned anything from being an unfiltered person it's that people who hide behind fake personalities will not like you at all, especially if you let it slip that you know their fake. I like being as unfiltered and blunt as I am. I don't see why I should have to censor myself for anyone's sake if its the truth.

Adios blogosphere, it was nice knowing you!

    1. Maddie, your blog is perfect and is right on point. I agree with you when you said it is better to be honest than lie. Being blunt in the moment may hurt for the person on the receiving end, but in the long run they will appreciate the fact that you weren't fake and led them on with a fake friendship. A lot of girls do that and it is more hurtful than being truthful from the beginning. You definitely have no filter, which may cause trouble some times, but everyone can't be satisfied all the time and there will always be drama. Good job, Maddie!

    2. Maddie, this made me seriously laugh so hard. This describes you SO WELL. Sometimes this benefits you, some people like to be told what other think of them. 13. Mellow
    Pleasant, agreeable, and laid back.
This word definitely describes me. I'm a pretty laid back person, and I go with the flow. I try my hardest to stay calm in rough situations, because I feel as though speaking my mind would make things worse. This may be a negative thing, by keeping to myself, and maybe that is part of my anxiety problem. I try to just sit back and get through the day, because school is definitely not on my list of things I enjoy. I love just hanging out and relaxing, and I'm not a very wild person.
It feels so good to say this is our last blog. It doesn't seem like the end of the school year, but I am so happy it is. It has been one stressful year, but we definitely learned a lot. We grew closer as a class with all of the group presentations, and with class discussions after reading a novel. I wish everyone a happy summer and enjoy your three months! Dr. Pam, good luck with your travels, and enjoy! I hope to see as many countries and diversity of life as you have.

  14. Unique
Everyone should know what this word means, but I believe that this is a word that describes me the best. People always say that I make them laugh or I make them smile. I believe that this is a unique talent that many people possess. I am glad to say that I have this great gift. To be unique basically means that there are no other people like you out there in the world.i cannot find many people that are like me, so I believe that this makes me unique. I am not the only unique one in our class however, and as the year comes to a close, we need to realize how close we have become. I am glad to be part of such a unique class, and I don't think many people can say that

I hope that our unique teacher, Dr. Pam, has the safest of travels as she departs from our school. I remember me hearing last year that this would be a tough class because of who taught it, but I didn't care. Dr. Pam I thank you for the many English skills that you have taught me and my fellow classmates. I hope your life brings you many smiles, and remember to be who you are, because that makes you unique..

I hate just being at home bored so I just go and hangout with my friends. I also work at bilo and that involves being very social with people and I have no problem starting conversations with anyone. Working there actually has gotten me to be a little more social too because i kind of have to be. People just make me so happy and j love them. I also just really like people and being around big groups of people. That is why I believe "Social" describes me the best!
